Global Warming doesn’t exist

Like the voices that have shut up supporting the Iraq war, global warming was first laughed off as a tree hugger myth. Now the only people who don’t believe it are the companies who will have to pay carbon taxes and National Party supporters and Farmers and SUV drivers. National Party Farmers who drive SUVs are the worst. I would add ACT party voters in this as well, but there just aren’t any left, perhaps we could get some carbon credits for that?

If we don’t dramatically alter the way we live we will see the full effects of global warming within 15 years, and once that process starts there will be no stopping it. This fact is conveniently avoided by every political party except for the Greens.

Here’s some more proof from the BBC for those who reuse to face up to the realities of Global Warming

The world is the warmest it has been in the last 12,000 years as a result of rapid warming over the past 30 years, a study has suggested. Nasa climatologists said the Earth had warmed by about 0.2C (0.4F) in each of the last three decades. Pollution from human activity was pushing the world towards dangerous levels of climate change, they warned. As a result, plant and animal species were struggling to migrate fast enough to cooler regions, they said.
"The evidence implies that we are getting close to dangerous levels of human-made pollution," warned James Hansen, head of Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, New York.

We've had a pretty cold winter here in Southland, I had to burn lots of coal to stay war, we could do with some warmer weather without having to move to Auckland.

dude - my advice would be to stock up on coal - once we breach those tipping points - we will kick off an ice age and everyone will want coal!

Nice straw man argument bomber.

I doubt you'll find anyone who claims that there is no such thing as climate change. They'd be conveniently ignoring ice ages and many other natually occuring major changes in global and local climate.

I think you'll find many of those people actually call for more debate into:
- the amount of *man made* climate change
- whether or not it is a bad thing (tm)
- if it is bad and imminent, then is Kyoto going to make any difference whatsover (all economic evidence suggests it will do nothing other than create carbon leakage to non signatories, thus making no dent in the global amounts of carbon, while hurting the local economy).
- whether nuclear is a viable way of preventing whatever happening

etc.

thank you mikee, and you're sounding like a back peddling right winger if I ever heard one - I love a good straw man arguement. I also love how if the problems are as bad as someone like Prof. Lovelock suggests, the economic impact of Kyoto won't really matter no will it mikee? Problem is mikee rich buggers have called the shots on this issue, blocking evironmental laws so they don't have to cough up - I love how it is only companies who pay for articles to be written who attempt to deny the environmental impact of their pollution, scientific opinion however is prertty universal on it. Have you seen An Inconvenient Truth Mikee?

Bomber,
Why don't you debate the issues mikee bought up.
You made some snide comments and then went off on a tangent.
Don't get angry at my post, just answer the issues in mikee's.

If we don't have farms we die. Simple. If farmers voted labour they go broke. If farmers don't have 4x4's SUVs or some other form of utility vehicle, which is generally heavy, they cannot access the more remote parts of farms. I come from a farm, I vote National and I like SUVs, but I still recognise global warming. Attacking farmers and SUVs isn't going to help the cause.
