Says it all really

When good people are asked to do evil things, the effects start to become obvious.

US troops' suicide rate in Iraq doubles
WASHINGTON - Suicides among US soldiers in Iraq doubled last year over the previous year to return to a level seen in 2003, US Army medical experts have said.

Twenty-two US soldiers in Iraq took their own lives in 2005, a rate of 19.9 per 100,000 soldiers. In 2004, the rate was 10.5 per 100,000 and in 2003, the year of the US-led invasion of Iraq, the figure was 18.8 per 100,000.

The figures cover US Army soldiers only. They do not include members of other US military services in Iraq such as the Marine Corps.

In comparison to the pain being suffered by the Iraqi people, the pricked conscience of American GI's may not seem very important. But it is a story Americans need to hear as it is their country who need to change what is going on.

Bomber, yeah, Americans have a history of not giving a fuck about other people. Only when their own die they start to reconsider things. So yes, let's bombard them with information about the suffering of their own and just not tell them about the hell they have created for the Iraqi and Afghani people. Oh wait! We already have and it hasn't worked. Why? Because in Albrightian fashion it was "worth it". Let's see if it's "worth it" when American blood is being sacrificed.

I find both of your comments offensive. you obviously have little understanding of the personal tragedy that leads a person to suicide. pretty low guys. though i suppose you'll try and justify your comments further...

Don't try to apply the usual case of suicide into this context. It's completely inapplicable. I find the slaughter of innocent people fucken offensive. If i had contributed to such an unforgiveable act, i'd kill myself too. There's your justification.

So why did they kill themselves anti-flag?

For the prestige?
For the money?

Or perhaps because they were put in a position they didn't want to be in, and had no way out?

Not all US soldiers are bloodthirsty psychopaths, anti-flag. Life isn't that black and white.

Amusing that neither the post or comments reflect the truth - suicide is less common in the army than the general population.

I expected better from you Anti-Flag. As anon said, some of those in Iraq have a conscience, clearly a contributing factor to their suicides.

And as for the slaughter of untold thousand innocents, considering 99% of those killed in Iraq are killed by their fellow Iraqis, or foreign insurgents, I hope your anger is directed at them, as well as the US troops stationed in Iraq.
