The creation of a media Anti-Christ

Cho Seung-Hui is becoming our new media anti-christ – we are bombarded by his image we are told repeatedly he was a cold loner, a killer, I’m waiting for the music video montage for FOX NEWS to play with Pearl Jam’s ‘Jeremy’ played in the background

"Jeremy – Fox News News Promo”

(opening shots of crying students)

At home
Drawing pictures
Of mountain tops
With him on top
Lemon yellow sun
Arms raised in a V
Dead lay in pools of maroon below
Daddy didn't give attention
To the fact that mommy didn't care
King Jeremy the wicked
Ruled his world
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today

(cut to picture of Cho screaming into the camera with that picture of the hammer)

Clearly I remember
Pickin' on the boy
Seemed a harmless little fuck
But we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth
And bit the recess lady's breast
How could I forget
He hit me with a surprise left
My jaw left hurting
Dropped wide open
Just like the day
Like the day I heard

(cut to Cho monologue about hating rich people)

Daddy didn't give affection
And the boy was something that mommy wouldn't wear
King Jeremy the wicked
Ruled his world
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today
Try to forget this...
Try to erase this...
From the blackboard.

(last image fade to black students crying with American flag blowing in the background)

Yet as Iraq burns and only gets a mere mention in the US media now, the only thing they want to debate is ‘have we focused too much on Cho’ – and so pointless questions are now ‘debated’ over the bullshit role of the media, and the two most important questions don’t seem to be getting asked. Cho Seung-Hui was a damaged, bullied, alienated little boy in a culture he never connected with, he wasn’t some monster, that caricature destroys any chance of us learning from this – the two questions America need to ask are these…

1: How could someone with metal illness issues get a gun with no questions asked?

2: What role did the medication play in his sudden explosion? Reportedly he was put on medication for his depression, who was monitoring that? What kind of medication was he on, we know there has been a connection between some types of medication and suicide amongst teenagers, did this dangerous mix of alienation and bullying spill over with this medication?

By painting Cho out as a desperate loner nobody and multi-media news porn only reinforces this, all the while we are missing important questions that need answering.

It is easy to blame someone that looks different in the first place. Then if he does something like this - make sure he doesn't appear at all human, or normal. As the US mourns, the Iraqis must wonder what all the fuss is about.

I was watching a NZ TV programme sometime ago and noticed how the police over there seemed to constantly make remarks that Asians are bad drivers. It's so easy to use the race card I guess.

Rarely does a bully and abuser identify itself as a bully and abuser. Much easier to get on a high horse and criticise other people.

A lot of asians are bad drivers, as are a shit load of bus drivers. Speaking after I was nearly forced to crash into the back of a parked car after an oncoming bus decided to drive in my lane and force me off the road...

Yeah Bomber,I noticed how the emphasis on him being a South Koren was repeated just as much as him being 'disturbed' a 'loner' 'quiet' etc. So of course as a way to distance America's fucked up gun culture from this 'foreign problem'.

Not only is the gun culture that's the problem, but it's another ugly manifestation of a society that emphasises the individual rather than the community. It's the result of the divisions that have been created by a capitalist enterprise, where everyone is in it for themselves. Where community means little, and the selfish agenda of the individual- that is to achieve the American dream-prevails. Americans take more medication to deal with depression far more so than any developed nation. Why is that? The two aspects become a lethal combination.

Make them actually.... are sure a lot of Asians are bad drivers or is it because they're a minority of this country, so their driving mistakes become more far more memorable than lets say, a white persons?

-Anti-Flag.

Aren't the Kiwi Chinese re-writing a very PC version of their history here now "for well over a 100 years"? Not in the current numbers stuck in the C.B.D and that is a totally different story I believe!Yes sure there were some goldminers way back when, but what about them overtaking "PASIFIKA" as the third largest ethnic group at the last Census now.Or are they all descended from over five generations ago as they would have us believe on "Here to Stay" on TV1 tonight.TZE MING MOK wants to "fight evil" well fight this reconstruction of "the facts" for a start mate.
