Mean

Schmuck is the first word that came to mind.

And as a tribute to Schmuck the Troll Blogger and his mullet fixation here's something random I came across yesterday that was just too beautiful not to find an excuse to use:You can only have hair like that if you are a musician or a magician - he's wasting that awesome chick-magnet look by being on the radio.

"NATIONAL STANDARDS".

Some rather frantic, frenetic and splenetic talk of this before the weekend. Also talk of 'our babies' infantilising the topic of debate if that is what you could call it.

First off Deciles are as much a poverty measurement as saying 8 out of 20 top integrated teachers salaries paid by the taxpayers schools were 'catholic' or religious. They don't attend mass. That's just a buzz-word for 2nd and 3rd generation pakeha and maori Kiwis. Some areas face good and bad schools next door to each-other with associated expectations for each.

Cambridge university take Bombers position of not comparing like with un-like and refuse to publish results for comparison in a league table.Aren't deciles exactly that?

Shouldn't bomber be applauding the non-indigenous students achievements with less government funding and support and isn't that really the only fair comparison to make with NCEA that they do more with much less to start with.

Who is Debra Masters associate director of VISIBLE LEARNING LABORATORIES which is part of the faculty of mis-education at the University of Auckland.

FEEDBACK isn't teacher student dialogue oh no.Teachers should be students and vice versa.WHEN STUDENTS HAVE POWER (Ira Shor)likened sitting in the back of the class and being a rebel to being placed in Siberia in terms of being phased out of "the system" and willingly sabotaging the learning process for all like the teacher unions are doing now.

She has been working with Professor John Hattie.

WHAT FEEDBACK DID YOU GET TODAY?

Verbatim?

Not how good was school or how was your day.Not what the teacher said to you specifically even if they chose not to single you out for treatment.

The Mad Hatter wants us to believe that the Holy Grail of the Times involved this. What the teacher said to each student specifically.

This is all about singling out the slow learners and weeding them out of the system.
